The Debate Over Windows Vs Linux – Which One Is Best?

Posted by admin on Jan 2, 2012 in Uncategorized

If you look at popular models of computers, you might think that Windows is the only operating system people use, with the exception of those who prefer Macintosh. There is another operating system, that can be downloaded by anyone, free of charge, named Linux, and it comes with a whole community of people. We will see how Linux compares with Windows by taking a closer look.

Although people who are technically minded may tell you that Linux is simple to use, this may not prove true for everybody. It is not as simple as Windows in regard to the learning curve, mostly because it was made by programmers for programmers. Windows, on the other hand, is made for people who are mainly interested in using the technology for specific purposes without necessarily understanding it. The Linux OS is actually updated on a regular basis. Of course, the same is true for Windows, but in this case you simply install it by hitting a few keys. We also recommend doing some research on Linux yourself to make sure this is what you want. Anyone that is willing to spend some time learning the Linux system will definitely be a candidate for this OS.

Linux support might seem like it would be hard to find, but that’s not the case. With the majority of computers in the world using Windows, it seems only natural, that Windows users and their problems, receive most of the technical support. If you check it out, you’ll find a different story. You might have to do a little work by searching, but you will find Linux has quite good tech support. Most of it is found on forums and is mainly informal. When you go to a Linux forum and pose a question about a problem, you will get a prompt reply, normally. Your answers or technical support will be available, even though it won’t be the same as when you have a licensed version of windows.

When comparing Linux to Windows, you will find that security issues is where Linux has a big advantage. If you want a secure operating system on your computer, then you would choose either Macintosh or Linux over Windows. The main reasons for this come from being so popular and the design that is used. If you have windows, then you already know that you are dealing with viruses, spyware, malware, and even other programs that cause problems. 100% security on a computer doesn’t exist, but malware and viruses are almost never experienced by Linux users. You don’t have to constantly worry about your privacy being invaded or always updating your anti-virus software. When you are sharing information that is personal, you need to be careful on any computer, even on Linux and their better security.

No system by itself, works the best for all computer users. There are good and bad points that come with both Linux and Windows. The computer that does what you want, might not do what another person wants. You might like Linux, if you like knowing how things work on the inside. Windows is the best option for all of those people who like things when they are user friendly.
